So shall it be with my father: he shall be
called a prince over his posterity, holding
the keys of the patriarchal priesthood over the kingdom of God on earth, even the Church
of the Latter Day Saints, and he shall sit in the general assembly of patriarchs, even in
council with the Ancient of Days when he shall sit and all the patriarchs with him and shall
enjoy his right and authority under the direction of the Ancient of Days.

BIOGRAPHY: Patriarchal Blessing of Frederick Alexander Smith, Given at Lamoni, Iowa, September 18, 1913, By Joseph R. Lambert, Patriarch Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints #1104 BIOGRAPHY: Brother Frederick, In the name of the Lord Jesus I lay my hands upon thee that thou mayest receive such help, light, strength, and divine direction, as will qualify thee not only to be a true and faithful member of the church of God, but to fulfill the high and important duties belonging to thy office and calling. To the end that thou mayest discharge the duties that devolve upon thee in a manner that will bring satisfaction to thyself and appreciation by the people of the church for the work done, I bless thee, that thou mayest indeed enjoy the spirit and office of thy calling. As thou knowest, thou hast been called to a high and important position, standing now with the leaders of the church of God. Thou art able, and if humble and faithful, thou wilt continue to be able to accomplish a good work, and, at times, to bring to bear a corrective influence, even with those who stand high in authority, because we all have our limitations, we all have our weaknesses, and we are commanded to teach one another, and to teach diligently, that God's grace may attend us. Seek to obey this commandment, dear brother, and the grace of god and the power of His Spirit shall be with thee. Thou hast started well. Remain humble. Do not trust too much to thyself at any time. Be carefully guarded in this respect, for it is always needful that our wisdom should be supplemented with the wisdom of God, and as Jesus said, it is verily true, "Without me ye can do nothing." Therefore, continue to put thy trust in God, and whatever thou seest to be thy duty and privilege belonging to thy office and calling, discharge it in the fear of God, without regard to what others may think and thou shalt be blessed in thy work, the comfort and light of the Spirit will attend thee, divine direction will be given, from time to time, and needed wisdom, if thou wilt learn to properly cooperate with God. But, dear brother, there will be trials and conflicts, and some times disappointments. Do not fear because of this, for all power is in the hands of God. Remember that the Lord Jesus was a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief, and the servant is not above his lord. Sometimes thou wilt see things which will bring sorrow and grief to thy soul, but I bid thee to not permit anything to interfere with the high and important duties of thy calling in the church of God. May the Spirit belonging to thy calling ever be with thee. To this end I bless thee in the name of the Lord Jesus. And as thou art required to instruct and teach others the great principles of the divine plan, remember that all centers in Jesus Christ, the great head of the church. He has truly said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man can come unto the Father except by me." Emphasize this great truth in thy teaching and the Lord will bless thee, thy mind will expand, thy tongue shall be unloosed to declare the great truths of the divine plan, and from time to time they will move the souls of men for good–those who are seeking after the truth. Now I bless thee that thou mayest have proper discernment, so that when needful thou canst decide quickly between darkness and light, truth and error, wrong and right, in order that thou mayest be more useful in the hands of God, and bring no reproach upon His glorious cause. I accept thee, dear brother, as one of the sons of Ephraim, with whom thou art properly numbered, and bless thee that thou mayest be able to set an example in harmony with thy teaching; that under the influences of the Divine Spirit thou mayest be able to look back over thy life, and look at thyself as thou art now, and understand where thy weak points are, and what needs to be corrected and strengthened, and what needs to be removed. I bless thee to this end. May the light of God's Spirit and His help be graciously afforded, from time to time, that thou mayest become a workman that needeth not to be ashamed in very deed, in this office to which thou art now called, and in the discharge of thy duty, God will stand by thee, and He will never forsake thee when the time of weakness and trial shall come; but the peculiar conditions will sometimes arise, somewhat unexpected, for which I bid the to be as well prepared as possible in order that they may do thee no harm. In thy day thou shalt see many who have embraced the truth fall upon the right and upon the left, because of unbelief and unfaithfulness; but thou shalt also see the faithful and true drawing nearer and nearer to God, and thou wilt be able to recognize that in all thy efforts–feeble though thou mayest feel that they are, especially at times– that God has qualified thee to bless the people and help them to draw nearer to God, and so thou wilt be encouraged to press forward and accomplish the work which has been given thee to do. Now dear brother, remain humble and continue thy work faithfully and well, for I tell thee, that if faithful, here is the work of thy life. Do not think of anything else; but give thy whole life to this office and calling, and the Lord will bless thee and bless many others through thy work, and thus great good shall come to the people of God. May the light of His Spirit and its comforting influence, to encourage and bless from time to time, be granted, and I say to thee, that with a reasonable effort upon thy part thou shalt overcome, and finally rest in the presence of God and Christ and loved ones in the enjoyment of celestial reward. I seal these blessings upon thee in the name of thy Lord and thy Redeemer. Amen. Anderson, Mary Audentia Smith.
